Counseling

Individual

Individual counseling sessions focus on a student’s individual needs and treatment options may vary depending on the age of the student and severity of need. A treatment plan will be developed for your child prior to the initiation of services. Counseling sessions may target a range of skills including improving student communication and positive peer relationships, teaching and reinforcing positive coping skills and resilience, and coaching positive conflict resolution skills, anger management, and self-regulation skills.

Group

Group counseling sessions typically include a group of 4-6 students working toward a common goal to develop and improve a specific area of social-emotional functioning. Group counseling sessions may target social skills, executive functioning, conflict resolution skills, and improving peer relationships. Groups could also focus on coping skills, and managing stress and anxiety both at home and in the classroom. Weekly group sessions could include bibliotherapy, role play, mindfulness and meditation activities, journaling, and learning yoga sequences.
